Papamoa FC started in 1995, founded by Alan Bright and Iain Cargill. Games were then played at Simpson Reserve initially before moving to the front fields along Parton Road at Gordon Spratt Reserve in 1996. After just two seasons, Papamoa FC became an Incorporated Society in 1997. From then on, we've never looked back and have grown substantially year on year with the club's primary focus to always foster, encourage and promote football activities within the Papamoa area.
In 2025, Papamoa FC celebrated 30 years since its creation, growing quickly with the population of Papamoa with over 885 playing members in 2025, which is an amazing feat putting us in the top 2 clubs, in terms of size, in the Bay of Plenty.
Papamoa FC is proud to be one of the fastest growing clubs in New Zealand, with the largest sporting code by membership numbers based at Gordon Spratt Reserve.
Over recent years, with substantial funding, sponsporship and support of its board ansd members, the club has become successful across a number of grades. Papamoa FC are also very proud to have had NZ Football representatives, such as Tommy Smith, Olivia Chance and Rebekah Stott play for our clubs at Junior level.
Gordon Spratt Reserve is named after a then TCC commissioner Gordon Spratt. The entry to GSR is from Alice Lane. Alice is the name of the farmer who gifted the farm land (Johnson) to the council.
